Newsflash
The ways to success and fullfillment

There are many documented reasons why people fail to achieve their full potential. Harvard Business School has taken a vital interest in what makes the difference in success or failure for people of similar backgrounds and educational standards.

Their studies find that 3% become successful, 30% are moderately successful and 67% just exist. The significant difference of the 3% who are successful is that they have written down specific goals. The 30% who are moderately successful have a general idea where they are going but don't have any goals formalised. The rest are happy to watch the world go by.

What is interesting is the people in the 30% category only need to put a small amount of effort to jump into the next group. The secret behind the effort is "the development of habits and strategies which support the achievement of clear goals."

What habits does you need to change to achieve the success you deserve?

What habits and strategies are you going to put into place to arrive at your successes and personal fulfilment?

There are many reasons why people fail to set goals.

Our education system focuses on filling our heads with the 'what' of learning: dates, facts and figures. The learner is often passive. Goal setting requires assessment and problem solving skills. Goal getting involves application and organization. The learner is active and requires original thinking, lateral thoughts, personal independence and responsibility.

Which of the following reasons, in the past, have contributed to your lack of consistent goal-setting and goal-getting?

  • Not making the time

  • Lack of know-how

  • Do not believe in yourself to design and create a new life

  • Wanting to please other and always doing what others want you to do, rather than choosing to do what you want

  • Too many interests and activities, creating an illusion of 'busyness' but with no focus or direction

  • Fear of failure

  • Fear of success
